Area of Biella

The province of Biella is a green area surrounded by the Alps, located in the northwest of Piedmont, in a strategic position to the urban centers of Milan and Turin and their respective international airports.

The city of Biella is spread over several levels: Biella Piano, Biella Piazzo and the river area. The oldest nucleus coincides with Piazza Duomo where the Romanesque Baptistery rises; the Renaissance complex of San Sebastiano, whose cloister is now home to the Museo del Territorio Biellese, is located not far away. In addition to discovering local history through the archeological and artistic sections, you can admire works from important collections. On the floor there is also the historic social theater Villani, another pulsing heart of the city's culture. The medieval village of Piazzo, located in the upper part of Biella, can be reached using the historic funicular that offers a picturesque panorama of the city. A rich heritage of industrial archeology can be visited along the river Cervo, from the Fondazione Pistoletto-Cittadellarte, located within a nineteenth century woolen mill, to the Sella Foundation, which retains a rich documentary and iconographic heritage.

The surrounding area has an extraordinary natural environment with protected areas recognized by the Piedmont Region, including the Burcina 'Felice Piacenza' Park, the Baragge area, the Roman gold mine of Bessa, the mountain area of the ' Oasis Zegna and Serra, the longest morainic hill in Europe. Land of great spirituality, as well as of art and culture, Biellese offers a dense network of alpine sanctuaries, including the Sanctuary of Oropa dedicated to the Black Madonna, whose Sacred Mount is recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.

The food and wine tradition of Biellese offers typical products of quality and tasty dishes that reflect the flavors of Piedmontese cuisine, excellent when accompanied by a good wine or an excellent beer from Biella.

A "woolen thread" links its history to Italian textile production, made of tradition, high quality and innovation. In Biellese we produce fine yarns and fabrics of excellence, and in the companies we work 90% of the noble fibers worn around the world. Thanks to textile factories, a dense network of corporate outlets has emerged for quality shopping that attracts customers from all over the world.
